MS Group of survivors from the submarine HMS Truculent standing before mike. One answers questions: Q: What is your name? A: Raymond Charles Fry. Q: What part of the submarine were you in? A: I was down having my supper. Q: How did you get up? A: Through the Davis submarine escape. Q: Did it seem a long time getting up? A: It didn't seem too long in the water, no. but I had a ? and I came up very quickly. Another survivor answers questions. Q: How long were you in the water before you were picked up? A: I couldn't say for sure, but it was quite a while. CU Survivor lighting cigarette pan to other survivors seated round table drinking cups of tea and smoking. VS Survivors. MS Pathe sound Camera. CU Mr Russell answering questions. Q: Well Mr. Russell. What did you find when you first went down. A: Well I landed on the bow of the submarine right by the ? and wedged meself in there. There was still a strong current running, and sounded the hull there with me boots, and after a while I managed to crawl to the top of the submarine and crawled along the deck. Again I sounded with my boots laying down with my helmet to the deck. Couldn't hear nothing then started feeling around with my hands gradually working from midship to the conning tower, feeling all the time and tapping with me boots but of course there was no answer and after quite a while I went to the surface and reported to our inspector. I was in touch all the time telephone, went down again, put another rope on. Had another short survey round the gun pit, or where I thought was the gun pit and tapped again with my boots keeping in touch all the time on the telephone and sending up different bits of information and when Id just about had enough I went up and Tom went down.
