| Description: | SEVEN AGES Hairstyles through the ages, modeled with historical costumes to match. Film which traces the change in women's hairstyles through history. United Kingdom First, ancient Greece: woman supposedly exiting house, comes down steps onto a sort of patio/garden; she is wearing a long robe and carrying a lyre! MCU woman; her hair is worn in an updo with curls held in place by a ribbon passed a few times over her head, this matches the "cross my heart" ribbon worn over her gown, and the general effect is of being wrapped up like a package. 2 more models enter, dressed in costumes to represent medieval and Elizabethan times. The medieval lady wears a long narrow gown with a long narrow sort of jacket thing over it, and one of those tall conical hats with ribbons hanging down from the top; her hair is in 2 long braids. The Elizabethan type is in the typical big costume with puffed up skirt and sleeves, a ruff, a curved "jewelled" piece at the front of her head with a sheer veil hanging down in back; her hair is underneath all this and not much seen. MCUs of these 2. LS they walk off; another woman enters, dressed to represent the Stuart period. She wears dress with tight bodice and wide skirt with different fabric showing in center front, she carries a stick like Little Bo Peep and wears a big Cavalier sort of hat with long feathers hanging from it. MCU same. Her hair is done is lots of corkscrew curls reaching to her shoulders, with little ringlets framing her face. Next comes a model supposed to be Madame de Pompadour, wearing skirts sticking out to the sides and a completely ridiculous over 2 ft. high powdered wig. CU of this monstrosity, which also has feathers hanging from the top of it. Next the early Victorian look, in a dress with big hoop skirt, a bonnet covering most of the hair, with a few dark curls showing on either side of her face. MCU this model. CU one of "today's crowning glories" - back view woman's head with short hair, ridged waves over the top and a bunch of small curls in back. | |
