"The Lowlands. Man walks through the doorway of Gretna Hall - the Original Marriage House in Gretna Green. A group of people walk past Gretna Hall Blacksmith's Shop. Two women stand outside and play accordions. A couple kneel at "the old anvil". C/U of the couple as the man says "I do". The man marrying them hits the anvil with a hammer then gives the man a ring. He places the ring on his girl's finger. Shots of the evening sky. Panning shot of the landscape - mountains and trees. M/S of Burns Cottage. Sunshine reflected on a lake. Large ship travels under a large iron bridge (Firth of Forth?). Edinburgh. L/S of the city at dusk. Trams travelling along Princes Street (?) A man tends to flowers in Princes Gardens. C/U of a flower bed - flowers have been planted to form a motif - difficult to discern. Low angle shot of a shopping street pavement. Two men in kilts walk directly in front of the camera and down the street. L/S of monument in Princes Gardens. Closer view. Statues in the Gardens. C/U of man and wife - he puts cine camera up to his eye. Various shots of Edinburgh Castle. Young soldiers in kilts present arms facing away from the camera. Cannons. L/S of the Castle - pan down. High angle shot of the city - view from the Castle (?) The Highlands. Panning shot of the mountains. L/S of a woman walking in the garden of her primitive thatched cottage. Closer shot of her carrying peat (?) into the house. Shot of a loch. Shots of a dam being built. Hydroelectric station - possibly at Tummel Bridge? Highland Games. King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (later Queen Mother) arrive at the Games. High angle shot of the show ground. March past of a Scottish regiment playing bagpipes. King, Queen and Princess Margaret watch the games. Events shown are: shot put, tossing the hammer, three small girls doing traditional Scottish dancing. These events are intercut with shots of judges. Glamis Castle, childhood home of Queen. Bagpipe playing marching band puts on a show at night.
