| Description: | SNIPPETS FROM "SNAP!" - THE NEW VAUDEVILLE REVIEW Variety Show at the New Vaudeville Theatre. Extracts from a comedy review show featuring Clarice Mayne, A.W. Baskcombe and Roy Royston. London LS "Clarice Mayne" dances with chorus who seem to be dressed as plants. These might all be guys! Not a very difficult dance - -s/he just sort of skips around a bit in a long skirt w hoops, and a Cavalier hat. Another drag bit -A.W. Bascombe dressed as "Mrs Smith of Peckham", w another man as young student type. Comedy sketch involving misunderstanding over the theory of relativity. (naturally this doesn't translate well to silent film but some slapstick, silly expressions.) Student talks excitedly while the old lady gets more and more confused. Later, both at table, Mrs. Smith scoots closer and closer while student keeps scooting away. Damaged. Funny looking bit with chorus girls' heads and shoulders showing over top of a curtain; another row of legs appear below the curtain, but if they were really theirs these women would be incredibly stretched out. girls bob up & down while legs kick. Then heads and feet exit in opposite directions. Theatre, dance, Vaudeville, Music Hall, drag, comedy, comedians, sketch, skit, entertainment, variety show | |
