| Description: | SOCKS, SHORTS, SHOES (aka BOY ENGINEERS) Teenage boys work in a shipyard, then have a holiday at a summer camp. Northern England. At a shipyard "somewhere in the north" we see various shots of teenage boy engineers at work, doing jobs that were previously done by men who have joined the services. Good shots of welding & riveting. In the workshops we see more young men at work. Then we see several shots of the same boys on holiday at a summer camp. They are woken by a man with a piercing whistle and run to the river to have a wash. Then they dry off in the sun and play various sports. Boys playing stick ball, volley ball & wrestling. Boys carry the food & prepare for dinner. The boys wash the dishes after dinner and have a bit of a singsong with boys playing the drums, a banjo and a harmonica. End shot of a group of boys looking through a tent flap. Commentator asks "Are they downhearted?" and we hear the boys cry "No!". | |
