He dangles it first by its tail, then by its neck, then grabs both ends and holds it in front of him with its belly up. He moves it up and brings it down through the air swiftly; repeats this several times, and the animal gets calmer. Then he sort of swings it from the side and lays it on its back on the table. It lies there quietly. Soldier quickly strokes a finger along its belly and the Gila monster rolls over upright. He grabs it by tail again and it's moving around.
