| Description: | SOMETHING NEW IN CABARETS Lovely film showing the cabaret entertainment on the ocean liner Berengaria - various acts. MLS part of the ship's orchestra: band leader swinging the bow of his violin as if it's a baton, saxophone player, etc. LS couple dancing in crowded ballroom. MCU the violinist boogies w/ his instrument. MCU jerky shot of couple dancing. Nice shot of many feet dancing. Another CU of a dancing couple, showing mostly their arms. MCU Tallulah Bankhead dancing w/unidentified man. She gives a big smile to camera Back to shot looking over whole dance floor. 5 women wearing stylish shimmery gowns w/beads, sequins, fringe, pose on stage then walk down steps toward camera. LS the Rodney Hilton dancers: 5 women wearing what look like furry tutus and feather headdresses perform in middle of dance floor. They dance in kickline and other formations such as hopping around on one leg in a circle. MLS one of these dancers does rows of forward and backward somersaults w/ legs spread. Jan and Janette (in costumes w/ raggedy edges like lil abner or something) perform a dramatic acrobatic dance which sometimes looks more like a fight. The longest sequence is when she hangs from his neck by one leg while he spins round and round. In middle of this performance, cuts to MCU Tallulah and 2 men at table. In another ballroom on the ship, Dorothie Willard performs a solo acrobatic dance. She scoots across the floor while doing the splits. Then she jumps up does a dance w/ kicks, then turns cartwheels across the floor, landing in the splits again. MS Dorothia in splits; she then "walks" across the floor, going from one side split to another, alternating the front leg. Wide shot: Jules Andre and Felicity Garratt in middle of ballroom doing "Spanish Apache Dance"; spectators in FG. MS Jules holding Felicity w/ her back curved over his shoulders. He lowers her and she flips around into a low dip/embrace. Back to wide shot for a bit. Nice shot of crowd in formal wear coming down wide steps toward camera.
