M/S of two girls looking at shop window. One is wearing a green trilby hat, other is wearing a pink bowler hat. A man wearing black bowler passes by, greets the girls and then hides his hat. Voiceover claims that he is right to hide his hat because "see what happens". M/S of a man wearing a "genuine mink hat" as he leaves a building. Woman follows him outside. C/U shot of the couple kissing. C/U on the woman's hand as she takes the hat from the man's head and wears it herself. She turns around and walks away. Man stands on the street, puzzled. M/S of the girl picking Begonias. C/U shot of her hand reveals white and pink nail polish. "Where did she get it?" - asks the voiceover. M/S of the girl walking along pavement. She pushes two men aside to enter motor accessory shop. Great shot of line of white little motorcycles at the entrance of the shop. Girl walks out holding a little bottle in her hand. C/U shot of the girl's hands as she opens the bottle. It looks the same as the bottle of nail polish but when the girl paints her nails, the audience discovers that the varnish is white. It matches the colour of the line of motorcycles. The girls have discovered that the paint men use to touch up scratches on their motorcars is identical to the nail varnish, but there is a greater variety of colours and it is cheaper. Girls stealing again! M/S of a man squatting, covering the scratch at the back of his green car. Woman comes and steals the paint to paint her nails. Green nail polish! Bizarre! Touch-up paint can even be seen in fashion shows. Location - Cadogan Pier, Chelsea, London. C/U on hand clasped round punt-pole. White nail polish! Cut to M/S of the same girl wearing one of the new designs by Mary Quant, young British designer. Girl (named Grace) poses for a photographer. She is wearing red Shetland wool pinafore-style dress and white shirt. White nail polish matches the shirt. A girl called Linda wears black tweed pinafore-style dress, white crepe blouse and black Mexican style hat. To match, she has gold coloured nails (C/U shot of her hand - great nails). Various shots of Linda on the boat posing for photographer. A third girl, Nana, is wearing Shetland wool, side split tunic and beaver beret. "And to model it, the girl wears a maroon shade of varnish - stolen from the masculine motorist..." C/U shot of the hand holding liqueur glass with drink in it. Nail varnish matches the drink colour. "They're wearing this stolen nail-varnish now to harmonise with their drinks, as this off-duty dancer from Murray's Cabaret Club amply illustrates." M/S of the same girl, talking to her boyfriend. Great high angle C/U shot of the hands taking off the gloves and showing not only her nails but great jewellery as well. Finally, a 'crazy' woman appears - wearing colourful Spanish style dress, matching hat and handbag, walks into a pub barefoot, smoking cigar. She has different nail polish on each fingernail and toenail. Great top shot of her feet revealing happy (hippy) toenails. Girl has blue lipstick on! | |
