| Description: | TABLE TENNIS STAR DESIGNER Dolls clothes designed and produced by table tennis stars Peggy Frank and Ronald Hook. M/Ss of table tennis stars Peggy Frank and Ronald Hook dressed in sports clothes. C/Us Miss F and then her plimsoled feet jumping about as she plays. C/U of Miss F sketching a dress design; commentator says she has been gaining recognition in dress designing. M/S of her sitting in a room surrounded by rolls of brightly coloured fabric, with sketches of dress designs pinned up on the walls. Mr H enters the room and sits beside her to discuss the design. C/U as they discuss possible fabrics (Mr H turns his nose up at a pink patterned material), decide on a pale pink seersucker one and both get up and walk out of the shot. C/U panning shot of various pieces of material and a doll dressed in a red and white frilly dress. We are told that Miss F specialises in making clothes for dolls; she and her husband employ 350 workers that turn out 5,000 outfits a day. M/S of Miss F's mother seated at a sewing machine, sewing a doll's dress. Miss F enters and shows her the chosen fabric and design. The mother continues sewing and Miss F sits down and starts to pin and cut out the design. C/U of her hands cutting the fabric. M/S as she shows the cut bodice piece to her mother who starts to machine sew it. C/U of her hands guiding the fabric through the machine - it obviously has a foot pedal! C/U of a miniature wardrobe of doll's clothes with two dolls standing next to it, one is wearing a Scottish outfit of kilt and bagpipes, the other is wearing tartan trousers and a matching yellow hat and jacket. A girl's hand comes into shot to remove a dress from the wardrobe. M/S of two young girls, Linda and Christine Payne, dressing dolls. C/U of LP dressing the Faerie Glen doll (who has had over 40 outfits designed exclusively for her) in a red and white hat to match her dress. C/U panning shot to show the dolls dressed in various brightly coloured outfits, including skiing costume, nurse's outfit and ballerina dress. CP comes into shot and picks up a doll in a fairy costume. M/S and C/Us of Miss F dressing a doll in the finished dress of pink fabric and tying a blue ribbon round its waist. Then C/U of another doll; tilt up to show she is dressed as a bride. | |
