Description:A segmented adaption of CHARLES DICKENS' "David Copperfield", focusing on the salad years love story between David and Dora. Features all the funny speak and fancy clothes one would expect from this type of period piece.
CU of a book being pulled from a shelf, dolly out to MS of the host talking to the camera while standing in the library of Dicken's last home. He introduces the story and away we go.......... MS of four English lawyers celebrating with sherry and sandwiches in their office. Tight LS of a horse and carriage pulling up to a fine aristocratic home (David arrives at his boss's home for a weekend getaway). MS's of David and Dora flirting in a rose garden; she places a flower in his lapel.......... CU of David adjusting a large, ultra-dandy craveat. MS's of him slipping on tight leather boots, then adjusting a svelte waistcoat. MS of David buying flowers from an old woman on the street. MS's of several young couples enjoying a picnic; but David and Dora suffer a misunderstanding which is remedied by Dora's companion, an overacting "old hag" of 20 years old. MS of David kissing Dora's hand.......... MS of David confessing his love for Dora on a couch, knocking over a vase and a small table in the process and provoking her small white dog to bark; she relents, kisses him madly.......... MS of David handing Dora a "cookery book" after announcing his poverty, causing her to faint. Much hammy acting later, the 20 year old hag enters to tell her sad old hag story, that Dora should learn from her mistake and not make the same one in her life.......... MS of David entering late for work, his boss calling him into the office where his secret engagement is revealed, the boss telling David to forget his daughter Dora or else.......... MS's of two cronish twin (Dora's aunts) telling David to scram, that they can't permit him to see her again. MS's of David galavanting about the office after learning Dora is poor as well. Ah, love.
