| Description: | TEA GROWING IN CEYLON Excellent coverage of the process of cutting, drying and packing tea Ceylon (Sri Lanka). LS and MS A line of women and girls walking with their wicker collecting baskets to gather tea on the plantation fields. Various shots, the women work across the field, making their way over the hillside picking tea. MS and CU A woman wading up to her waist through the tea bushes, picking the top leaves and throwing them into the basket on her back. Pan down the hill, to a group of workers sitting by the road with their baskets. Each in turn empties their basket of leaves into the scales and the farm foreman enters the weight into a book. The tea is loaded into the back of lorry which drives away. LS Worker loads sacks of tea onto a cable which hoists the load up the hillside. MS Line of women pickers coming down off a field. LS The sacks of tea being taken along by the cable. Various shots, the tea leaves being spread on drying racks. Various shots, men taking cuttings from the tea and planting them in the ground. They are covered with dried vegetation to protect them from the sun. LS The newly planted tea bushes being sprinkled with water. MS Two white men, one of them a tea taster, inspecting the bushes on the plantation. Various shots, the dried leaves being cleared from the racks, ground down and again put on large racks to dry. Various shots of the drying and processing of the tea, and finally packing it into large tea crates. MS The tea taster sampling some of the tea. MS The crates are loaded onto a lorry. LS The lorry drives away from the tea plantation factory. | |
