| Description: | TEENAGE SCIENTISTS (aka SCHOOLBOY SCIENCE LECTURE) Experiments with electrical charges and magnetic fields seen at a lecture for children. London. M/S of a group of children sat in rows, various shots of them watching the Christmas Lectures for children. M/S of Sir Lawrence Bragg, Director of the Royal Institution, he is turning a wheel and on the table silk threads attached to two balls on poles stand out because of the electrostatic charge. Victor Coates comes in with a stick and pokes them, he then moves the poles together. M/S as Sir Lawrence adjusts the machine and several of the threads attach themselves together. M/S of some boys watching in the audience. M/S of the men again with the Tesla Coil, Victor takes a long fluorescent tube from Sir Lawrence and the lights go out. L/S as the charge from the coil is seen jumping across to light the tube. C/U of a boy watching. L/S as Sir Lawrence wheels a table in, on it is The Jumping Ring, he hands a ring to a lady who tries to put it over the machine. C/U as Sir Lawrence flicks a switch and the ring jumps off again because of the electrical field. M/S of three girls in the audience looking impressed. Various shots of The Spinning Ball machine, C/U as the ball spins round and floats above the machine because of the magnetic field. L/S of The Faraday Cage, Madeline Edwards is sat in it. M/S as Sir Lawrence turns a handle which spins a wheel behind him. Madeline stands up and the foil streamers in her hair stand out because of the electrical field. C/U of Victor, C/U of Madeline with the streamers stuck out at right angles. | |
