Exterior. L/S of a pretty thatched cottage with white walls, L/S of another similar cottage with a garden and fence in front. M/S of an elderly lady tending to her flowers in the garden, the camera pans up to show the thatched cottage. C/U of part of the roof set round a window. C/U as the camera pans across a long narrow thatched roof to the end which comes to a point. L/S of a lady in her garden, she is Mrs Emily Cain aged 71 and her cottage is an old green railway carriage with a thatched roof. It has a trellis in front of it with creepers growing up. M/S of Mrs Cain picking flowers from her garden, she is stood in front of the cottage. The narrator explains that this is a 35 foot long second class carriage which once belonged to the London North Eastern Railway. Mrs Cain walks further up the garden and picks another flower, she then walks up the steps. M/S of the steps as she walks up towards the camera. M/S from behind her as she walks up to the door. C/U as she puts the key in the lock, the door opens and she climbs in and closes it. Interior. M/S of her living room which is a cream colour, she sits down and puts the flowers in a vase. It looks like a normal living room but has a curved roof and lots of small windows. C/U of a sign on one of the windows which says 'Smoking'. M/S as she arranges the flowers in the vase. M/S from a low angle of Mrs Cain arranging the flowers. The narrator says she bought the house for £550 and it is comparatively cheap to run, she has named the cottage 'Hillview'. Exterior. M/S as the camera pans across the side of the carriage showing its windows and thatched roof.
