| Description: | The Battle of Quarley terminates the "Great War of 1925" - a wonderful spectacle of modern warfare. Somewhere in Hampshire. M/S of soldiers firing a big gun then getting up to reload it, smoke obscures vision. 'military Attaches of all countries were keen critics.' M/S of soldiers standing talking over a map. M/S as the soldiers take the pieces of wood used for camouflage off a big gun and load it up. They get into position and fire it then replace the wood. 'After laying "Doggo" for over 24 hours, Wessex tanks make dramatic attempt to hold up Mercia's advancing army.' M/S as a tank breaks out of the woods into a field, another follows in the background. M/S as it drives down the road. 'aeroplanes, smoke screens, tanks, all played their part - but it's "the infantry" that counts in the end.' M/S of the smoke screen spreading over the field from canisters. L/S of the soldiers running across the field. The tanks move through the smoke screen, soldiers hide in the grass. M/S of them loading their guns and getting ready to fire, a tank drives by in the foreground. M/S as they run across the field, various shots as they move through the smoke screen. 'after 3 days under war conditions "1925's Contemptibles" jauntily march and sing "Show me the way to go home!"' M/S as the soldiers march up the road with the band playing. | |
