| Description: | The Battle of the Blues. - Cambridge gain their 41st victory in the Great Boat Race Battle, winning by 2 1/2 lengths." River Thames, London. Various shots of the Boat Race between Oxford and Cambridge Universities on the River Thames between Mortlake and Putney. The two teams get in place for the start; a klaxon sounds and they're off! We hear cheers from the huge crowd along the river. "At Hammersmith Bridge Oxford had gained slightly - " L/S of the two teams rowing under Hammersmith Bridge; frenzied screaming is heard from the crowd. "At Barnes Bridge - Cambridge was leading." More shots of the race. "The finish." High angle shot panning across the crowd; we hear cheering, though these people don't appear to be making much noise. Cambridge pass the finishing post, followed by Oxford. L/Ss of the two teams still in their boats. Much cheering and 'hip hip hoorays' are heard from the crowd. One of the teams (presumably Cambridge) carry their boat onto the shore. | |
