| Description: | GAZETTE Title is missing. Should read (according to Pathe notes): "Putney to Mortlake - THE BOAT RACE - Cambridge "make it eleven" with another runway - 4 1/2 length - victory." Putney to Mortlake, London. The race between Oxford and Cambridge rowing crew teams begins. The two boats are followed by chase boats full of spectators, and spectators line the Thames. A fleeting and somewhat dark shot of the boats passing under Hammersmith Bridge, then several good shots of Barnes Bridge (railroad bridge). The Cambridge crew wins by over four lengths, but Pathe insists on showing the slow motion footage of the boat passing the finish line. They broke the old world record; so did the Oxford team. But Cambridge won. More slow motion shots as Oxford finishes, rowers being exhausted. Several shots of boats bobbing in the river outside the course, and several shots of specatators and a fleeting shot of the newsmen and newsreels' camera cars. | |
