| Description: | GAZETTE “Colchester. ‘The Diehards’. 1st Batt. of the famous Middlesex Regt. receive new colors at hands of HRH The Prince of Wales.” Colchester, Essex. An army chaplain blesses new colors - flag and drums on large parade ground. Prince Edward, Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII, Duke of Windsor) hands over new flags to kneeling standard bearers. Officers salute the Prince with their swords and then the new colors are paraded back to the ranks. Men of the 1st Battalion of the Middlesex Regiment parade to the strains of their military band. They soldiers do various drill moves with their rifles before giving three cheers for the Prince of Wales. Pan along ranks of officers posing for photograph with the Prince in the center.
