| Description: | THE EYE (OUR WONDERFUL BODIES) Story on the human eye and on eyeglasses. art of series "Our Wonderful Bodies" with cartoons by Joe Noble . Excellent item about how the eye works - much madness and weird spectacles. Title frame has an odd drawing in the top left corner of a person holding up a pair of dark glasses to their eyes. Cartoon of pencil drawing profile of a woman; features appear. Next we get the inside view - the profile outline with very basic sketch of the eye & optic nerve, unseen from the outside. Enlarged drawing of eye. Then camera (the old-fashioned big kind with bellows) and eye side by side; compares the parts of each. More drawings show the retina (compared to film) and show how the lens focuses on object at various distances and sends image to the retina. Drawings of abnormal eyes - far-sighted and near-sighted. Another drawing shows how glass cut in a curve will bend light rays. Shows how different types of lenses correct vision of the abnormal eyes. MCU several pairs of spectacles displayed on a table. MCU young woman holding tiny case pulls out folded-up spectacles, unfolds them, and puts them on. CU man's hands unfolding another pair of these folding eyeglasses which seem all wrapped around themselves! MCU he puts these on the woman who is staring ahead of her in a way that looks a bit demented! She looks at camera; light reflects off the frames. CU woman wearing a similar set of frames. CU woman, now dressed to look "sophisticated" and smoking a cigarette, models another pair. CU Woman weraring frames described as "grotesque" - plastic frames, look like black with white trim all around the outside. She turns to side; the arms are half black & half white. CU uptight-looking man in starched collar & tie trying black round plastic frames. CU woman wearing white lace veil over her entire head, with eyeholes cut in the fabric and eyeglasses worn over the veil attached to it! She lifts the veil - and the glasses - and peers out with a maniacal grin. CU woman lying on her side with head resting on pillow. She is wearing super lightweight glasses with no frame around the lenses themselves. Series of whimsical drawings seen over film of "spectacles to match what your're looking at". Sketch of woman in propeller-shaped glasses seen over film of woman in cockpit of airplane. Horseshoe shaped frames for watching polo, boxing glove shaped seen over footage of male vs. female boxing match. Finally, drawing of woman wearing heart-shaped frames, but this time there is no accompanying film cut, just the words "Sorry Lads, You're All Too Young!" | |
