| Description: | THE FIREFIGHTER'S PROGRESS Modern fire engine is contrasted with old fashioned fire fighting equipment A peep into the history of firefighting devices. A "primitive Japanese hand squirt" is demonstrated at the museum of the London Fire Brigade. Firemen demonstrate a manual fire engine with lateral pumping levers. The firemen then demonstrate the very latest in fire engines. The fire engine has been designed by Major Morris, Chief Officer of the London Fire Brigade. Various shots of the firemen demonstrating hoses, breathing apparatus, escape ladders, etc. We then see another "welcome innovation" - the canteen van. Nice shots of water being boiled in urns and cups of tea being poured. The firemen stand beside the van and have a nice cup of tea wearing their shiny helmets. | |
