| Description: | THE FLAPPER Early flying machine is demonstrated. MLS 2 men on sidewalk adjusting wings on a metal frame c. 4-5 ft. high. MCU bottom part of frame, set on 4 baby buggy wheels; a motor in the middle of the frame is attached to a wheel which is in turn attached via belts to 2 other wheels. ManÆs hand reaches down and turns a handle on one of the wheels, which starts the motor and sets all the wheels spinning at a fast speed. LS young man stands behind this odd contraption; he holds onto slanted bars and pulls them up & down, which makes the big wings flap - the wingspan is c. 8 ft. Next shot from behind a man in the center of the street, who stands holding onto the bizarre machine, which is now flapping all on its own! He runs in a crouching position holding onto it as it bounces down the street, flapping violently and looking as if it almost wants to take off and fly - but it never does. Location looks like America. | |
