| Description: | THE FOLIES BERGERE REVUE Advertising film for the new Folies Bergere Revue. "The Show of Shows! Coming Next Week! The Folies Bergere Revue. Direct from the Folies Bergere, Paris and Victoria Palace, London." Hungarian dancer Marika Rokk w/ the Lawrence Tiller Girls. The LT girls, all in white w/ petal skirts, pose on a bench w/ statues of cherubs, garlands and giant flower sculpture behind. They get down & dance in line, then go back to their pose. M. Rokk enters in tutu & toe shoes, does ballet dance in FG. Ends w/ fast pirouette. Comedy sketch w/ unidentified actors. Father discovers son (who seems to be actually played by a midget wearing short pants & knee socks like a kid) looking at a risque (at least for its time) magazine. Father & son then start to look at it together, Dad sitting on chair and son on table beside him. CU over their shoulders of magazine "La Vie Pariesienne", with a drawing of a girl in a sexy pose on the cover. Father opens to page w/ drawing of naked woman with man in historical costume. MLS both guys laughing. They turn another page, laugh hysterically, slap each other, etc. etc. - the "son" falling over on the table. Then Mama enters. The father & son quickly control their laughter. When the stern wife & mother tries to find out what they were looking at, they go therough a comic bit of passing it back and forth, one hiding it while she frisks the other. But finally Papa finally passes it to his wife. The End. Another title promoting the coming Folies B. show: "Paris at Your Door! Don't Miss the Show! Here Next Week!" | |
