| Description: | The 39th renewal of the Hambletonian - harness racing's classic sees a world mark equaled and the race record broken by a tiny bay with blistering speed. "Ayres" takes the race in straight heats to prove that a small, good horse can beat any horse twice his size. Outside shot of the Duquoin State Field, throngs in line to gain entrance. Ground shot up at the judge's nest. Horseracing fans with an array of different hats covering their heads on a bright sunny day. A horse pace car has the buggies lined up and ready for the race. The gates fold up and the race is on. A total of nine buggies trot on the mile long track. A lady cheering on her horse and driver. Horses spinning around the curve and Ayres is in the lead with a new track record. A beautiful horse, No #7 wins the race. Race track fans. Ayres in the winning circle. Photo journalist. Ayres and his handler. | |
