Justice; labor; working class; industry; arson; crime France 09.50 Bad feeling arises between foreman & worker. A foreman and the company boss talk to two employees. The foreman tells one of them to look out - that he is in line to lose his job. 10.34 "The Foreman's Breakfast". The foreman gets his breakfast served to his office and is annoyed when someone interrupts him with paperwork. Foreman in office overlooking factory; about to eat; office clerk brings papers & he must leave his meal. 11.02 "Jealous of his Master". Shots of the company boss enjoying a civilised meal with his family. The foreman arrives with the paperwork, he looks jealously at his surroundings. Already angry; foreman enters fancy house of wealthy owner who is eating lavish meal w/ servants waiting at table; & looks around w/ envy. Owner signs papers; foreman returns to office & sends his cold food away. He returns to his office angry at his position. 12.08 "The Dispute." The foreman pick an argument with the worker. Foreman waits at factory doors as workers (incl.a few women) come out. He beckons worker from 1st scene & picks fight; pushing the guy around. Worker punches foreman. Workman & foreman storm off together. 13.07 "Dismissed." The foreman gets him sacked.Workman is taken to owner & fired! 2 friends restrain him from going back to fight. 13.51 "Thief And Incendiary". The foreman returns later to the firm at night to rob the safe and then sets fire to the factory. Villain foreman returns later to factory; breaks into office safe & steals money. Then he sets fire to factory! He then calls out the fire brigade. He runs to firebox; calls for help. Shot of firefighters getting dressed. Fire engine racing down street. The fire brigade cannot control the blaze until the building is gutted and after the fire. At fire; unrolling hoses; spraying water on flames; knocking down door with axe. Foreman runs around acting shock & dismay; owner arrives. Exciting shots of huge fire; lots of smoke; massive disaster & destruction. A fireman rescues a child from the blaze. More scenes of wreckage and devastation. Fireman hanging on piece of roof which comes crashing down. 20.20 "Discovering The Theft". After fire; owner discovers theft (office still intact). The boss find his empty safe. The foreman blames the fire onto the employee that he sacked. Foreman blames fired employee; has police arrest him. 21.36 "Discovering The Culprit." Foreman's hat is found beside safe; money found in his pocket; guilt revealed! The foreman is discovered and arrested, and the victimised employee is reinstated.
