Closer shot of the highly decorated carriage bearing the coffin of the late French President Doumer. A large French tricolour flag is draped across the coffin. Shot of the large group of official mourners, many are dressed in military uniform. Shot of dignitary walking slowly. Exterior of Notre Dame cathedral. Tilt down, large black drapes cover the doors. Closer shot shows cavalry men parading past the doors to Notre Dame. The coffin is drawn past. Bells toll in the background. A rank of cavalrymen salute with their swords. The widow and other grieving women come out of the cathedral all dressed in black with veils. Various guest and mourners leave the service. All manner of uniforms and costumes are on display. More shots of the parade - carriages covered with wreaths move along. Lots of marching French troops. Man makes speech (in French) from podium. Cut away to CU of visiting dignitaries including Prince of Wales (later Kind Edward VIII, Duke of Windsor). The man next to him may be Albert Lebrun - the new French President. The speech continues about the assassination of Doumer. More cut aways to show women in their mourning veils. Story ends quite abruptly. | |
