| Description: | THE LITTLE PEOPLE ARRIVE Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" is performed by a puppet theatre. United Kingdom MS young men and women (teenagers to twenty-somethings) behind "stage" at puppet show, preparing marionettes. CU "Puck" marionette collapsed onstage with head on his feet. He slowly lifts his head, sits up; this puppet has dark body with wings on his back and yarn for hair. MCU tilt up young woman leans over the top of puppet theatre, holding puppet strings in one hand while pointing down at puppet with the other, and talking- -apparently to the puppet himself. CU Puck raising arms. MLS looking straight at stage: fairy puppet flying back and forth, then lands by donkey puppet at left. CU these 2 together. LS same; then more puppets come flying in. MS backstage: pan with group of women puppets in a ring holding hands as the piece is lifted up from the floor backstage, up to level of platform built for puppeteers; woman carries them around corner, lowers them down onto stage. MLS stage: the circle descends to join others onstage. MS tilt down: c. 5 young people on platform working the puppets. MS the puppets' creator, Miss Van Volkenburg sits on stage talking; puppets fly in to join her; she pretends to have animated conversation with them, shakes hands with them etc. | |
