| Description: | "Bristol. 'The Somme' ... 'Gallipoli' ... 'Paschendale'. and many other battle honors ... are emblazoned on new King's Colors presented to the 7th & 10th Batt. of the Gloucestershire Regiment - the famous Fighting 'Fore & Afts'." Bristol, Avon. Intertitle reads: "A poignant moment ... 'farewell to the old Colours'." As a military band plays 'Auld Lang Syne' two Color Sergeants march past soldiers with rolled up regimental flags. The parade ground is surrounded by houses. On the command the troops move to present arms - their drill display looks fairly good. The music changes and the camera moves across the parade ground - several civilians remove their hats at the salute. Vicar (possibly Regimental padre) stands by drums and colors blessing them as a sign of duty to King and Country. A group of veterans look on, their medals proudly displayed. The flags are presented to the Color Party who rise from a kneeling position. Several priests and an officer stand in front of the men. The officer is recounting an incident from the Battalion's history. The Color party march back to their place in the ranks and the Battalion present arms once more. | |
