| Description: | THE SPINNER Spinning glass - London family has been in glass spinning business for 160 years. MCU middle-aged woman turning handle of machine, causing 2 wheels (like bicycle wheels) to spin. Woman holds 2 sticks, transfers a small quantity of melted glass from one to the other and holds it to one of wheels. With wheels stopped, she takes off spun glass from rim of wheel. MCU her hands holding shining strands of spun glass, which looks like silk or very fine blonde hair; she ties knot in the strands. CU hands holding spun glass. CU the woman holds a rod w/ melted glass on the end, and carefully manipulates the stuff onto the end of a smaller stick to create an intricate miniature bird. She attaches a tail made of the shining strands of spun glass. MS several of these birds in a display. They look like Birds of Paradise. | |
