| Description: | The Spitzbergen raid. Allied soldiers destroy island of Spitzbergen after Germans exploit coal supplies and radio station. Various shots of Canadian and British troops onboard ships bound for Spitzbergen. Various shots of the island of Spitzbergen where the Germans are exploiting the coal mines and radio station. The Brigadier gets off the boat with armed escort and looks around. The other soldiers arrive and the camera pans across them meeting the miners. M/S of Brigadier in charge. Various shots of the ships arriving with more troops. The camera pans across stores and equipment, miners help to carry them. The inhabitants of Spitzbergen collect their belongings and get into ships to be evacuated to Britain. Various shots of engineers placing explosives around wireless mast and parts of coal mine. Large heaps of coal are set alight. Various good shots of explosions at wireless station and sheds blowing up. L/S of explosion underground, the blast nearly knocks over the engineer that pushed the detonator. Various shots of large coal heaps burning, the colliery is alight and what was once the German coal supply area is now a burning mass.
