| Description: | THE VANISHING LADY Early trick film - A statue comes to life and the sculptor falls in love with his creation. Title frame; then a paragraph (added later; 1920?). Artist in a fancy studio with BG of pillars; etc.; he is wearing Grecian-type robes and sandals. Completes statue of a lady; stands back to look at it; then kneels;emoting wildly; throwing his arms to the heavens and toward the statue. Suddenly the statue transforms into a live woman.She steps down off the pillar; the man jumps back; she crosses room and climbs on another stand; he runs to the other side; looks like he blows a kiss; he runs to her kneels; runs back; runs to her again and tries to throw his arms around her; but before he can embrace her she disappears--vanishes--and appears again across the room. He tries to grab her again and she disappears from the waist up. He picks up the bottom half; carries it back and forth; sets it on a stand. He crosses room; the entire lady appears again. She walks across; gets back on the stand where she was in the first place; and turns into a statue again. The man becomes very upset and finally falls to the floor. change; transformation; metamorphosis; disappearance; magic; fainting. | |
