| Description: | THOSE AWKWARD MOMENTS Scene from 'Katja' at the Gaiety Theatre in London starring Gene Gerrard and Ivy Tresmand. London Set is interior of rich people's house. Young couple (played by Gene Gerrard & Ivy Tresmand) doing a silly dance with kicks like a chorus line. Each of them carries a suitcase so maybe they are going to elope. Another man enters from upstage, uh oh, it's the girl's father. He grabs her wrist. The fiance doesn't even see what's going on. He just keeps dancing and one of his kicks lands on the father's behind! The father kicks him back and exits w/ daughter. Her boyfriend follows, doing silly walk (walking while crouched down). Another scene from the play, the young couple stand hand-cuffed together w/ some soldiers or police behind them. They get into all sorts of strange tangles when they move, forgetting that they are cuffed together. Next, the 2 are 'at home'. She sits on his lap, they wrap their arms round each other and they are swearing eternal love when suddenly a servant enters w/ a glass on a tray. Gene enraged at the interruption, jumps to his feet, w/ Ivy still clinging to him. While he walks around yelling at the footman, she remains with her arms around his neck, her kneels still bent in sitting positon as if she is stuck to him w/ super-glue! Finally they collapse back in the chair. Slapstick, farce, silly, comedy, romance. | |
