| Description: | THOSE LONG FORGOTTEN DAYS Comparison between the old fashioned girl of the late 1800s and the modern flapper of 1930. "25 years ago when flickering figures glided jerkily across our crude screens...." Unfortunately they seem to have overemphasized the flickering jerkiness on this old footage from c. 1900 to make it more reminiscent of an old movie projector. MLS Ladies and gentlemen strolling about in park. Slow motion: young girl c. age 7 walks down steps followed by adult men and women in summer clothing; men in straw boater hats sit watching. WS street in Atlantic City, New Jersey, 1897; many pedestrians. MLS pedestrians strolling along street, and beside them a steady parade of 3 wheeled mini vehicles sort of like couches on wheels, propelled by hired pushers walking behind them....ah the leisured classes! On the beach: man in swimsuit taking photograph with little camera of a woman in knee length skirt and cardigan, parasol; boys in swimsuits watch. MLS row of young women in old-fashioned beach costumes - plaid dresses with knee length skirts, posing with parasols. MS woman in a more athletic and daring version, shorts a few inches above the knee and a matching short-sleeved blouse, stands on beach, stretching her arms. Slow-motion. MS couple in small drawing room with upright piano; it looks like she tries to reach into his pocket, he catches her and jokingly slaps her hand while she laughs. They turn and walk out of room. 01.04.20. "You ought to be glad you're living in a modern age and have a modern girl for a pal!" MS the modern girl - smiling 1920s young woman wearing knit dress with close fitting knit hat, dead critter round her shoulders. "All in favor of the modern girl - applaud!"
