| Description: | The Ocean-o-graphic Research Vessel 'Atlantis II' returns to port after a fruitless search for the sunken submarine 'Thresher'. She made deep sea pictures but they revealed no trace of the craft. The 'Thrieste' a bathyscaph capable of diving seven miles deep arrives to help in the hunt. She can easily examine the 'Thresher' once it is located. Massachusetts The Ocean-o-graphic research vessel Atlantis II sailing into port. MS - Families of the crewmen anxiously await the return of their men. MS - Little children waving to their fathers aboard the ships. MCUS - One of the crewmen disembarks from the Atlantis II and runs up to greet his family. Hugging and kissing his children. MCUS - Another ship arrives, Point Defiance arrives carrying on her deck a little submarine called US Thrieste, the ugly duckling of the fleet. Camera pans - The US Navy Thrieste, this little submarine is capable of diving 7-miles deep, and it will have a 2-man crew. | |
