The romance culminates in a wedding. Performed by the mayor of the town where the circus was appearing. The ceremony - a unique and lofty affair - with bride and groom perched on the tightrope. The mayor no doubt had some shaky moments even though on terra firma. Bride, in typical gown, and groom climb ladders, walk high wire (holding poles to balance them) and meet in the middle. Crowd looks up at them. Groom slips ring on her finger, kisses her on both cheeks (probably staged, on the ground). | |
