| Description: | Soon after he has gone he receives a phone call. He answers with the words "ARE YOU THE SAME FAT HEADED FOOL WHO'S BEEN PHONING UP ALL THE BLINKING MORNING ?!" He realises his mistake when he finds out that it is actually Mary Alison on the telephone, who is most annoyed at her treatment. Split screen shot of the developing conversation between Miss Alison and Mostol. As Mostol pours himself a shot of whiskey Mary talks about how proud she is of Mostol now that he is "teatotal". Mostol slurs his words when he says taking a slurp of whiskey "I promise to remain teatotal and I'm going to keep my word." Inevitably Mary's thoughts turns to her beloved canary. Mostol spit his drink out in shock when she asks how it is and almost puts his foot in it when asked what he feeds his cat on! After several more probing questions about the cat and the canary, Mary wants to hear her bird sing. After protesting that he want sing Mostol, in his drunken state uses a cork and bottle to simulate the bird's sound. When he accidentally drops the cork Mary asks, "Why has the bird stopped singing" to which Mostol shouts back "I'VE DROPPED THE DAMNED CORK !" | |
