| Description: | TOY MUSEUM A look at some interesting toys of the past at The Toy Museum Rottingdean, East Sussex. M/S of Yootha Rose, curator of The Toy Museum at Rottingdean, standing at display shelves containing many figures and toys; she takes a small Mrs Mopp figure from a shelf, winds it up and puts it on the table; C/U of the figure moving around and mopping the floor as she goes. C/U of YR. C/U as YR winds up a black Afro-American figure from around 1910 which starts to dance. C/U of a figure of a man on a bicycle; tilt down to show he is on a penny-farthing. C/U of a Victorian game; a small billiards table with a figure of a man poised to play; YR winds it up and we see it in action as some tiny balls move up a small conveyor belt and into position so the man can shoot them into little holes at the far end of the table - brilliant! High angle extreme C/U of this action. M/S as YR walks to the display shelves, takes off a toy shaped like a ping-pong bat and starts to move it in a circular motion; C/U as we see it holds four feeding chickens that peck with the motion; this toy is from Sweden. M/S as YR reaches for another figure with wild hair, a Russian Hair Raising Toy! By pulling at the base she makes the figure's hair stand on end; C/U of the toy as she does this. C/U of a strange automation picture of animals at a party; a monkey turns a barrel organ, a cat and dog dance on a platform, a pierrot figure strums a mandolin,, a parrot swings from a hoop above and rabbits, a goat and a dog nod in time. C/U of the back of the picture showing the machinery working. M/S of the display shelves as YR enters shot; C/U of a miniature tool set made by Lewis Carroll for his sister - a tiny wooden box with miniature tools laid out before it. M/S of the shelf panning right to show various toys and books. M/S of a large Noah's Ark mounted on a model sea, with many pairs of animals displayed; tilt down to show three smaller arks on the shelf below; C/U of the smallest, with Noah, wife and animals standing by. | |
