He passes an old lady in the hall, and a younger lady in her boudoir, who takes off her run-filled stockings and drops them in the basket. "There's a good girl," he says, "I hope." He dumps a large basket of scrap cloth and says, "Be patriotic like me," walking off in nothing but his long johns. | |
