| Description: | TRAINING FIREMEN. Finchley, Middlesex MS Fire engine. Firemen jump off and start doing various jobs around it. CU Firemen jacking up engine he runs out of picture round the fire engine. MS Another fireman at work on a wheel in front of the fire engine. Two firemen run into picture and the first man undoes the box which contains the hose and he and assistant start unrolling it. MS Fireman adjusting hose to tap. MS Fireman turning the apparatus which controls the turntable ladder. LS The big ladder approaching the wall of a house. MS Fireman starts to climb the ladder. CU Fireman watching. LS Fireman on top of the ladder. MS Fireman starting the ladder. MS Ladder going up with fireman on it. MS On top of window of building of fireman on top of ladder directing hose against the wall. MS Fireman on the ground turns on the water. MS Taken from above of the fireman directing water onto the building. MS Fireman on ground wheeling step ladders to the wall of a house. CU Wheel of this apparatus as the fireman adjusts block underneath it pan up to show a fireman running up the ladder. MS Two firemen on ground watching. LS Firemen getting into building through window. CU two superintendents looking up. MS Fireman leaving window carrying rescued man on his shoulder he starts to come down the ladder. CU Superintendent giving orders. LS Taken from above of fireman taking the rescued man down the ladder. MS Fireman bringing rescued man to the bottom of ladder. He reaches the ground. CU Fireman's hatchet laying on side of fire engine attached to a belt a hand comes into picture and takes the hatchet and belts and we pan to show belt being put round the fireman's waist. MS Two firemen adjusting their belts they run towards two ladders which they pick up and walk towards a building. They lay the ladders side by side on the building and the fireman on the left starts to climb his ladder while the one on the right remains on the ground holding his ladder. CU Fireman climbing up his ladder. He turns round and holds out his hand and the other ladder is given to him which is placed on top of the first ladder he climbs onto this ladder and continues to climb p building. CU Fireman at top of the second ladder. MS On ground of fireman having his gas mask and apparatus adjusted. CU Fireman adjusts his gas mask he turns round to display apparatus. Pan with him to the entrance of the gas chamber which he proceeds to enter. He disappears into the gas chamber. MS First Aid party in progress. MS Instructor showing fireman correct respiration movements on prostrate man. MS Man polishing brass hose tops etc. CU Man polishing hose. CU Man's face. MS Men playing billiards in the rest room. CU Alarm bell ringing. MS Men in billiards room dash off to fire escape hatch. MS Firemen at the top of the hatch starting to descend by the pole. MS Firemen sliding down the pole one after another we follow one man down the pole and another one comes down who runs round the back of fire engine. MS Fire engine leaving fire station. We pan with it as it goes off down the road. | |
