New York, United States of America (USA). L/S of large passenger aeroplane taking off (Sikorsky aeroplane). L/S of aeroplane skidding across field, dirt and debris fly as it spins around, nose ploughing into ground. The plane has obviously just crashed, although we do not see its descent. For a few moments the plane is still, a car drives past in foreground - on its way to help? The aeroplane then explodes into a ball of flames. M/S of burning wreck of plane. Intertitle reads: "A seething mass of fire sweeps the wreck with ... victims". (part of intertitle obscured by timecode). More shots of burning wreck. Men are rushing over to help but the flames are too fierce; all they can do is stand by, watching helplessly. Intertitle reads: "Jacob Islamoff, mechanician of the plane, who was trapped with his fellow victim inside the plane's cabin". C/U of young man in flying helmet - Islamoff before disaster. Intertitle reads: "Charles Clavier, radio operator, as he appears in last picture before tragic death". C/U of Clavier talking. | |
