| Description: | TRAVELAUGHS AT THE "BIG SHOW" Good footage from circus. Circus scenes mixing live action and animation. Including some performers from teh sideshow. All shots from before the start of the show. Line of elephants walking 2 by 2 down a residential street, w/ a trainer riding on one of each pair; a few teenage boys stand in street watching the end of the circus parade. Man at roofless ticket booth, off the ground, handing down tickets to buyers below; people crowding around; big pieces of canvas painted w/ circus scenes hang behind the booth. Pan rt. looking over the mostly working-class crowd, racially mixed group of black and white, some of those in FG staring at camera; in BG the big tent, w/ words "BIG SHOW MAIN ENTRANCE". Suddenly cuts to CU artist hand drawing a sketch of a boy peeking under tent. Dissolve to shot of real boy trying to sneak in. He does not even get all the way in before he comes back out, being swatted by a broom. More mischievous kids c. age 8-10 play a set of wheels w/ a rotating attachment on top of the axle, used for transporting some of the equipment. One boy sits on the thing while his buddies spin it around. Another drawing which turns into real film: giant walking along amid regular sized folks. Group of boys following him, mother pushing baby buggy, etc. Circus tent far in BG. Another shot of giant strolling past wooded area, more kids come running, including one boy who runs past in FG, turns to grin at camera and nearly falls down. Another drawing, this one of a tiny man held in another man's hand. Obviously this does not turn into an exact duplicate, but a shot looking over heads of crows at a midget standing up on the ticket booth. | |
