General view of Cape Canaveral as the Thor Delta rocket carrying the Telstar satellite is prepared for blast off (at night). The rocket is fuelled on the launch pad. The rocket takes off and soars into the sky. Back at Goonhilly we see CU of satellite dish and GPO (post office) engineers at work in the control room, waiting for a signal from Telstar. A man sits at another control desk, with a view of the dish. Captain Booth and his team at Goonhilly are seen looking at monitors that are receiving pictures on a screen relayed from America via Telstar, showing Mr Frederick Kappell, Chairman of the American Telephone Company. | |
