M/S as she puts her slippers on and her husband enters shot; he is dressed in a Victorian night-shirt and cap with a large curled moustache, and carries a candle. Commentator says "What was fashionable yesterday is often ugly today; and yet fashions undoubtedly travel in cycles". C/U of a fashion sketch of a military-looking suit being held by theatrical designer William Wynn; he passes it to Harry and Monty Moss to look at; they are discussing what clothes will look like in the year 2000 at their offices in Covent Garden, London. C/U of WW talking, tilt up to show a man dressed in the sketched outfit: a kind of sports jacket with a zipper in red and blue, unzipped it shows a loose blouson-style shirt and close-fitting trousers. The man turns round to show the cut of the jacket at the back. Commentator talks of the military line, borrowed from uniforms of the past. The next suit is more formal - looks a bit like a bellboy's uniform in a beige check, with brown Hussar-style cape and hat. C/U of fashion sketches on the floor; tilt up to show one of them being modelled; "what the soldier of the year 2000 might wear for State occasions". It's a rather traditional uniform of tight white trousers, red and white tunic with black cummerbund and helmet, obviously influenced by the early 1800s. Next costume is a dinner gown in crimson velvet with a ruffle of white nylon pleating at the neck and cuffs and a panel of pleated nylon at the front of the dress, fanning out to a fishtail at the bottom. C/U tilt down to show the gown in detail - great 60s make-up and beehive hair too. The men discuss. M/Ss of the Victorian couple in old-fashioned swimsuits on the roof of a building - could this be the roof of the old Pathe building near Leicester Square?! (futuristic)
