| Description: | Twenty-five Years Ago (Stories from 1934). One of the worst storms in the area's history ravages Seattle and the Pacific Northwest. Aftermath, damage caused by the disaster - ruined homes, uprooted trees, vehicles lying on their sides. Slum clearance gets under way as Secretary of the Interior Harold Ickes dynamites a rickety Atlanta, Georgia, tenement. African American people walk amid buildings (poverty, poor). Ickes detonates the explosives, building explodes and starts to crumble. President and Mrs. Roosevelt (Franklin and Eleanor) pay homage with flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Arlington National Cemetery. Heiress Barbara Hutton, just wed to Prince Alexis Mdvani. Young woman in elegant fur coat. Princess Marina of Greece soon to be wed to Britain's Duke of Kent. People disembark ship, Princess Marina greets Prince George, the Duke of Kent, with a kiss. The couple walk in a garden, he wearing a kilt. Rough and tumble gal footballers in Ohio. Young women or teen girls, in full football gear (looks like leather helmets) play American football. Tomboys. Sex roles. Pioneers. Female athletes. Chicago's far fetched effort to thwart bootleggers with a coin in every bottle of hard spirits! Coin at bottom of bottle; hands use little hammer to break it. | |
