| Description: | 25 years ago today Political turbulence in Cuba. Police and troops shoot down crowds demonstrating against the Batista- dominated government. Protestors walking with banners. Crowds fleeing. Police (? - men in uniform) collect banners and stack them in a pile. Man (San Martin?) waves, smiling, to crowds. Financier Samuel Insull is returned to Chicago to face criminal charges growing out of the collapse of his multi-million dollar utilities empire. Crowd of men, including press photographers, swarm as man walks toward car. Insull (?) walking. Another Bonus Army marches on Washington, to be housed and fed by the U.S. Army. Scenes show U.S. Capitol dome in bg. Men sit at table, outdoors, and do something with paperwork (?). Men run out from among tents, with plates and cups in their hands (soup's on!). Many men eating food (includes at least one African American man). The 60th running of the Kentucky Derby is one of the most thrilling in the annals of the Run for the Roses, as Cavalcade tops Discovery in a blazing homestretch duel. Crowds watch the last moments of horse race. Winner with roses. | |
