| Description: | Stories from 25 years ago. A legendary bad-man's reign of terror ends as John Dillinger is cut down in a gun battle with g-men outside a Chicago movie house. Scenes show the nation-wide man-hunt following his escape from the lady sheriff of Crown Point, and the grim ending to his incredible one-man crime wave. Male hands pull photo of Dillinger from filing cabinet (cool). Men with rifles walk around building. Dillinger (?), smiling, and others inside jail (?). Lots of police officers with weapons -- this is probably for the camera but they actually look kind of incompetent with their guns. Wanted posters being printed. Night, Biograph sign lit up. Crowds wave outside of Biograph Theater. Photo of woman (woman in red?). Body in morgue, toe tag for John Dillinger. Bank failures no longer menaced the little depositor as federal deposit insurance assured their money's safety. People push their way into Fond du Lac Bank. Teller counts out money, gives it to woman customer. Sign says something about "F.D.I.C. Orde..." (FDIC) In aviation the introduction of the reversible pitch propeller, with a demonstration of fantastic feats made possible, was to revolutionize flying. Small airplane lands, then taxis backwards (in reverse) into hangar. And one gadgeteer proudly showed off a model ornithopter, a crazy craft with wings that flapped like a birds. Man holds small flapping model, then releases it. It flies well -- does look like a bird -- and he chases it. Wacky inventions. | |
