The narrator explains they are wearing the uniform of those who live in the alms houses of Sir John Port's Hospital. M/S of the alms houses, the group walks up to a man sat outside at a table, he is Mr Grimwood-Taylor who is giving out the alms. C/U as one man walks up and signs for some money. C/U of Mr Grimwood-Taylor, C/U as he gives the old man a ten shilling note. M/S as a woman comes up for her money. M/S of two men sat at a table one of them is filling in a Pools coupon. C/U of Major Betterton, who is Chairman of the Trustees of the Hospital, talking to them. C/U as 79 year old Bill Edwards fills in his coupon, he smiles, C/U of the coupon. C/U of 82 year old Bill Holt . L/S of the Chaplain, Canon Kidson, talking to Mrs Susan Bailey and Edith Lindores as they are sat sewing. M/S as the Canon examines the sewing, C/U of his face, C/U of the embroidery. L/S of the group walking through a gate. M/S as one lady looks at some flowers, C/U of the pink blossoms. L/S as two men and a woman walk up and sit on a bench. C/U as a hand picks up a pair of spectacles from the top of a book and then picks the book up. M/S of the reader, Mrs Sarah Jane Swann aged 72 as she sits down, she is reading 'Educating Elizabeth', C/U of her face. M/S of Mrs Ann Fairbrother cutting dahlias, she gives them to Mrs Parkinson. C/U of Mrs P's face, the camera pans down to the dahlias. M/S of the alms houses with flowers outside, Mrs P walks into her house with the flowers. M/S of a leaded window. M/S of a white dog sat outside, it yawns. M/S of Ernest Parkinson sweeping a path, the camera pans down to the broom. L/S of the alms houses with various people in the grounds, one man is mowing the lawn.
