The Vanguard sitting on a launching pad at Cape Canaveral, Florida. MS - The 20 inch sphere is the payload on the Vanguard. MLS - The Vanguard at countdown, the attachments are breaking away from the rocket. It is a flawless take off. The third stage of the rocket had a miss fire and there will be no more Vanguards taking off this year. A big disappointment. It did not work.
