M/S of two men cleaning and preparing a 1907 Belgium racing car called 'La Metallurgique'. C/U of the man polishing the front of the car, he is the owner Douglas FitzPatrick of Sheringham Hall in Norfolk. C/U of his mechanic, Jerry Magewfki, poking in the engine with a screwdriver. He puts the bonnet down over the engine. M/S of the red leather seats, Douglas climbs up and sits in the seat and prepares to drive. M/S of four men pushing the car from the back, M/S of the men pushing and Douglas steering. M/S of the road ahead filmed from the point of view of the driver. C/U of his hand on the steering wheel, the camera moves down to the dials on the dashboard and his foot on the accelerator. M/S from his point of view as he drives into a big field and past a man wearing a flat cap, behind him is another vintage car and people milling about. This is the Concours D'Elegance and Driving Tests, a rally of veteran and vintage cars at Beaulieu Abbey. Douglas drives past another man who indicates where he should park. C/U of his profile as he drives, there are many other vintage cars in the background. C/U of a man with his car taking the covers off his headlights. M/S of a man driving a vintage Rolls Royce past the camera, he has two female passengers. M/S as another black limousine style Rolls Royce drives past. M/S of a two seater Swift driving round the field. M/S from the driver's point of view as he approaches the Abbey, there are two men waiting at the gate. One of them is Lord Montagu, the driver stops the car and shakes his hand. M/S of Lord Montagu, another car with two men in drives up and stops in front of him. L/S of the grounds of the Abbey, a blue Trojan comes into the frame and drives up the path. L/S of the Abbey in the background as another car drives past. M/S of an M.G. driving up the path, it is followed by a Morris Cowley and another car behind that. M/S of a crowd of people looking at a car. The camera pans over to show the car which is a white Vauxhall. M/S as two men adjust their car, L/S of several cars parked or driving about. M/S of the race marshal wearing sunglasses, he waves his flag to start the event. An old Rolls Royce drives up a road towards the camera, it skids to a halt, C/U of the back wheel and the door. It then reverses back down the road and drives through the gate into a field. The narrator says this event tests for reversing, braking, manoeuvrability and parking. M/S as a Bentley drives past the camera and skids to a halt, it then reverses and stops. The driver puts it into gear and drives through the gate. M/S as a racing car skids to a halt, C/U of its back wheel as it reverses and then drives through the gate. M/S of Lord Montagu looking at an M.G. sports car, it has '59' in the corner of the windscreen. The car drives off past the camera. C/U of Lord Montagu and Lawrence Pomeroy who is a writer in a motoring magazine. C/U of the car's back wheel as it reverses. M/S as it drives into the gateway. L/S of the Abbey, a car drives past it and there are several people walking about.
