| Description: | 09:00:31:- Panning CU's of packaged magic tricks inside a glass case at a magic store in Chicago. Same with merchandise on shelves and hanging from ceiling. All sorts of books, tricks, photographs, paraphenalia, instruction sheets, and so on. 09:05:23:- MS of Mike Lukas (TV host and comedian) introducing old-school magician and store proprietor, Jay Marfel, to do a magic trick for the camera inside the store. The trick involves four pieces of rope, all different lengths, and the object is to make them all one length, whihc he does, eventually making the four ropes into one rope after cutting them with scissors, tying them, and throwing away the knot. Pretty neat trick, so much so Mike drops his lavalier microphone. At the end Jay calls for JIm, a young employee who is to do a card trick; pan right to the backroom where Jim emerges from an aisle of magic goodies and walks to a computer so he can finsih an order. 09:07:43:- Panning CU's of Houdini posters and paraphenalia in a glass case. More panning CU's of other wares in glass cases. Cut to MS of Mike interviewing Jay Marfel. They talk about the many TV appearances he's made, any advice he has for young and aspiring magicians, Harry Houdini's real name, why magicians have a tendancy of changing their names, and how Houdini really died (ruptured appendix after a college boy punched him in the gut). 09:13:37:- MS of Mike and Jay standing in front of the counter while Jim enters screen right, behind counter, to do a card trick he developed himself. Camera cranes up for a slightly high angle, zooms in to CU as he executes the trick, talking the whole while. Cool trick as well. 09:17:09:- Panning CU of a colorful sign above a doorway inside the shop, reads, "MAGIC". Cut to CU of the "MAGIC INC." sign on the window outside the store. | |
