| Description: | Same as catalog # 521396 Warsaw Ghetto Memorial. GV and close shots of the monument in the former ghetto area. The Memorial of the Heroes of the Warsaw Ghetto is located on a square which was once the site of one the main bunkers of the Jewish Combat Organization. This monument is the work of Natan Rappaport. (World War Two, monuments, memorials, holocaust, Warsaw Ghetto, Jews) Zoom in on the bronze and granite monument w/ plain looking apartment bldg in BG. Monument is a big cube of granite blocks with bronze sculpture (partly bas relief) in front center depicting men women and children all looking intense. On either side there is a small sculpture of lions holding up a menorah. CU small flowerpot left on monument; pan up & down on sculpture. CUs details. CU inscription. 01.48.29. Shots of 2 children by one of the lion & menorah statues, and by the big monument. Park with a few trees (trees are bare since it is winter); apartment blocks in BG. LS 5 trees - -the five trees of the ghetto. Artistic bit: CU buds on curving twigs on tree branch; fade to barbed wire; zoom out on top part of barbed wire fence jutting out from wall post. Closer shots of one of the ghetto trees w/ twisted branches, covered with tributes - -many plaques, tin shields on tree trunk with names of various people who died here in the Holocaust (note: several of these signs have a cross symbol on them, so it seems less likely that those particular people were Jewish victims); pine sprigs wreaths etc. left around tree. | |
