Wonderfully exotic scenes; black & white except stencil color in last scene.Titles in French. Scenes of crowds in white Arab robes. w/ a few people in Western clothing; probably French colonial officers; attending the ceremony. Procession; Arab men on horses; marching band; in large open space surrounded by wall. Line of men on horses gallop across. African men in cool uniforms; white pillbox type hats. Various shots of people. Muslim women wearing traditional veils and robes; eyes barely peeking out; hanging out in a group; some holding children. Shot looking through odd-shaped window; at several people around arched doorway. CU Mulai Yusef w/ Theodore Steeg; resident general of France in Morocco. Cavalry "charge" toward camera; as if attacking! Band playing; all wearing fez hats! More riding. Shooting off rifles into air. The 3 brides; totally covered in robes and veils and sort of hoods; sit on white horses led by servants. More rifles. Another shot of crowds seen through window w/ carved bars. Brides are carried through the streets on litters; hidden inside little "huts" covered w/ fabric. Late at night; torchlight parade- -the torches & sparks & smoke are stencil colored orange here; on top of the b&w film; in the torchlight the procession; w/ litters still being carried about; can be seen in a hazy mysterious sort of way.
